Donna Herrick never has considered herself much of a beer connoisseur.
That soon could change as the The Brewery at Divots — the new microbrewery located next to the SandBar & Grill — gets off the ground.
Construction began in June on the portion of the new facility where craft beers will be brewed. Now, the space is nearly complete, the equipment is in place and sample barrels already have been made and tested.
“I’m not a beer drinker traditionally,” said Herrick, who owns the facility. “But the freshness of the beer really makes it good.”
Herrick said she began kicking around the idea of building a microbrewery when it was first mentioned about two years ago but didn’t become serious about the project until last year when she spoke with other managers at the Divots/Norfolk Lodge & Suites complex.
